Specification
Arkansas whetstones are sometimes referred to as Arkansan Stones or Arkansas Stones. They are natural oil stones quarried in the state of Arkansas, USA, and their name is derived from their place of origin.
Arkansas whetstones are natural sharpening stones made from an extremely hard, fine-grained white rock known as novaculite, which consists primarily of microcrystalline quartz. Their microscopic porous structure is ideal for retaining and distributing oil, making them particularly suitable for use as oil stones. These stones are widely valued for precision honing, fine finishing, and maintaining sharp cutting edges.
